Hi, I’m Jess!
and It’s my honor to help you Achieve a financial life you’re excited about!
I spent my early career focused on becoming an Engineering Manager. I was good at my job, and I made enough money to not really think about money. But I never really stopped to think about what my money could actually do for me.
And then I got laid off. Twice in one year.
The first time while I was five months pregnant and then two months into maternity leave.
That’s when I started learning about financial independence.
I realized I couldn’t keep putting all my eggs in the “steady paycheck” basket. I needed financial security. So I started learning about financial independence retire early (FIRE), investing, and building wealth that wasn’t dependent on staying employed.
I went from having a couple thousand dollars in savings (which was nice for a vacation or shopping sprees but not enough for when I was out of a job), to actually thinking strategically about my money and my career.
Twenty years (wow!) into tech, including six years as an Engineering manager, I’ve learned a lot. The tech industry is chaotic right now, and a lot of us are figuring out how to build layoff resilliant career plans without burning out or betting everything on one job.
That’s why I’m writing on MoneyLatte. This is equal parts guide and learning journey. I’m still making mistakes, still figuring it out, still working toward FIRE. But I’m documenting it all: wins, failures, lessons, and more.
Because I know there are other women in tech who are asking the same questions I am.
